Homework on Game Nights

For many of us baseball season is now in full swing and that means at times playing games on a school night. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to get your child home from school, feeding the family, making certain he gets into his uniform only to realize there isn’t enough time for him to finish his homework before heading out.

Fortunately, after much trial and error, I’ve figured out how to make homework run much more smoothly in evenings games are scheduled on a school night. I keep a bag packed with school supplies hanging in his room.

Evenings when he needs to finish homework he only needs to grab the bag and throw in any school books he may need. (We keep a portable reading light in the car in case it is dark on our way home).

These are the items I keep in his school bag:

  1. Loose leaf paper

  2. Pencil case which holds pen, pencil, highlighter, scientific calculator and index cards.

  3. Small notebook with website addresses, passwords, usernames of his online textbooks.

Good luck this season!
