I am so excited to share this post because it has been a long progress in the making. This wall has sat empty ever since we bought the house years ago. Only at Christmas time when the Christmas tree is placed here does it serve a purpose. I’ve been waiting for the “perfect” piece, and now I believe I have it.
Because I’m obsessed with entertaining I have lots and lots of dinnerware, serve ware, drinkware and linens which have never had a decent space. They’ve been stored throughout our home. It was just a matter of time until I had the perfect spot for my entertaining pieces.
I found this beautiful mahogany piece and knew immediately it would be perfect for the front room. Although the cabinet was in incredible condition for its age, the mahogany was dark and dated and defineltly in need of a makeover.
Using Annie Slian chalk paint I refinished the cabinet in shades of gray and I silver leafed the hardware. I worked on the cabinet whenever I had a free moment and it took several months to finish.
Here’s the piece completed. With a little imagination, you can repurpose almost anything into a functional piece.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this DIY project. There are more DIY front room posts to come (the cabinet inspired a room makeover). Stay tuned…
